Known limitations

Text over background images

WAVE accessibility testing reports contrast errors on the following elements where text is displayed over background images. These are known limitations of automated tools, which cannot accurately measure contrast for text over images. Actual contrast ratios have been verified using Photoshop color sampling:

  • Homepage banner title — Light cream text (#fae8bd) over a darkened city aerial photograph. Measured contrast ratio: 6.63:1, exceeding the WCAG 2.1 AA minimum of 4.5:1.

  • Footer email address and "Powered by Squarespace" text — Text displayed over illustrated background elements. Measured contrast ratios exceed 4.5:1, verified via Photoshop color sampling.

Decorative graphics

WAVE reports a contrast error on a decorative buffalo reflection graphic on the homepage. This is a false positive — WCAG contrast requirements apply to text and functional UI components, not decorative illustrations. This graphic conveys no information that is not available elsewhere on the page.

Third-party content

This website includes an embedded Google Maps component on the Contact Us page. Google Maps accessibility is maintained by Google and is outside our direct control.
